He is injected with a synthetic nanomaterial and suffocated, only to wake up with restored use of his legs, yet alone in a steel cell in the ...。民国初年，军阀混战，奴隶娃子小萝筐（郑星 饰）跑到滇军当了马夫。十年后，他在讨袁护国战争中立下赫赫战功。提升副连长后，改名萧罗，娶女奴索玛（张金玲 饰）为妻，奴隶的身份使他的婚礼倍受冷落。之后他参加了北伐战争，大革命失败后他奉命剿共，此时的他陷入困惑之中。在红军政委郝军（施锡来 饰）的启发下，他率部投诚，改名罗霄，任红军师长。由于红军内部出现极左思潮，率直的罗霄加以抵制，被当时的领导人彻消职务，降为马夫。遵义会议以后，他被恢复职务，带领部队北上抗日。在延安，他送大儿子罗干参军去了前线，罗干牺牲后他又送次女和小儿子到了前线，连年的征战和满身的伤病使罗霄全身瘫痪了......。
