梁伟英醉心戏剧，甘愿放弃父业，也要粉墨登场，一日花旦英登台为观众喝倒彩，与班主争吵，英误将班主推倒在地上，班主遂因心脏病病发身亡。英以为自己误杀班主，得同班男旦石秋之助，逃亡星洲投靠其兄石春及其妹兰英。兰英羡慕其兄在港演戏，故在星亦不时女扮男装苦学唱功，希望有一天赴港演出，英抵星寻获石氏兄妹，为求生活，三人联合街头卖唱。花旦英之父梁千万亦获悉其子并无杀人，故派使私家侦探往星洲寻觅其子回港团聚。。Steve and Susan Ireland are about to celebrate their 4th wedding anniversary by re-enacting their first date.
